The current shades of Velvetine are Red Velvet, Suedeberry (which I don’t own), and Pink Velvet which just released this past holiday season. I just had a look at their Instagram page and there are three more Velvetines coming out soon! These come with your standard doe foot applicator and they smell amazing; like vanilla frosting! I could sniff this all day. But I don’t…even though I really want to…would you judge me? Ha!

As I said when you first apply the product it has a very liquidy slippery texture. The closest thing I can compare it to is the YSL Glossy Stains which almost apply like water. It can be hard to get an even application with the applicator so they say you can use a lip brush to refine the shape of your lips which I’m not the biggest fan of; maybe the applicator should have been a brush instead of a doe foot. In any case the lip swatches below are only using the applicator provided.

After a few minutes, depending on how much you applied, it will dry to a nice matte finish. I highly suggest moisturizing your lips before applying as in my experience the drying to matte finish process also tends to suck some moisture out of your lips.

You can see especially in Red Velvet where the color dried splotchy; but it’s enhanced because of the close up of the photo. Red Velvet is pulling oranger than it looks on my lips (nutty studio lights) so I’ll insert a live action picture of RV below. When they are dry these really do not transfer or fade at all and you will need a pretty hefty duty makeup remover at the end of the day.
Quick picture of me on Christmas morning wearing Red Velvet. Forgive the oily face as it was pretty hot in the Caribbean that day!
Very pretty!! I love that it’s Matte. I think that’s the the best finish when I wear red.
