Today is April 1st. Do you know what that means if you’re in the United States? The deadline to file your taxes is on April 15!! Have you started yet? What are you waiting for! The quicker you file the quicker you’ll receive your refund (if applicable) and the quicker you can get to shopping (after saving most of it of course). If you didn’t know part of my degree in College was Finance so here are my top 5 ways to spend your tax refund and to save a little money along the way.
- Pay Off Any Outstanding Debt – This one doesn’t seem like much fun but trust me – use your tax return to pay off any outstanding debts you may have especially those with the highest interest rates (credit cards, store cards, etc). Also use part of your tax return to pay down any long term debt like a student loan, mortgage, or car payment. Get rid of that debt as soon as you can!
- Save Half – If you’re lucky enough to not have debt, or if your tax refund was big enough to pay down debt and you still have funds left over – put half into your savings account immediately so you don’t even miss the money. Refunds are a great way to boost your emergency money fund.
- Scour the Internet for deals and Coupon codes – After doing the responsible thing with your refund now you have wiggle room to buy yourself a little something. The first thing I always do before hitting the checkout button when online shopping is check for any discount codes or free shipping codes by using websites like coupons.com. There’s always a coupon code out there floating around for everything. If you’re not big on online shopping coupons.com also has tons of coupons to be used in store as well!

What’s even better? Coupons.com asked me and a few of my Atlanta blogging friends (Special thanks to Pammy Blogs Beauty!) to bring you a chance to win $100 Amazon giftcard! Love that money!! Good luck!
Awesome giveaway! Thanks for the chance to enter 🙂 Good luck to everyone else!
