Mascara is one of my favorite beauty products. Nothing like a good mascara to make your eyes look awake and va-va-voom! When a mascara makes a huge claim like +752% more volume of course I am sucked in and need to try it immediately. When Tarte had their Friends & Family Sale last week I knew I had to snatch this up along with a few other items and put it to the test!

Look at all those claims on the packaging. They sure did hype this one up! Also note the cute little cruelty free bunny on the packaging.

The outer packaging of Tarte Mascara’s has caught my eye for years. It looks more like a chic pen case or a really long lipstick or maybe a really skinny case for glasses. My imagination runs wild as you can see. Definitely one of the most different mascara tubes I’ve come across. Incidentally you also have a much firmer hold on the wand because of the shape of the cap which is nice and probably plays a part in the results I got.

The box mentions that this is a 360 degree volu-flex brush that “lengthens curls and magnifies lashes”. There are rows of dense bristles and rows with less dense longer bristles which helps to create volume and length. From the back of the box:

As you probably already noticed I have quite large eyes but not so large lashes! I like to think that with my eyes being so big I had to get skipped over when they were handing out eye lash genes. 🙂 . My lashes are not very long or very thick (especially on the bottom!) but they’re mine and therefore I love them.

Now look at this. And then go back and enlarge the picture side by side with my other one and look at the difference. I did not curl my lashes and do not for the most part as I really don’t see that much of a difference most times. I applied two coats of mascara and I am so impressed I could pass out. My current and still favorite mascara is the Mally Beauty Volumizing because it makes me look like I have the fullest upper lashes but this is giving it a run for it’s money! With other mascaras I usually have to use my IT Cosmetics Tightline Lash Primer to give them fullness at the lash line but this mascara does it all in one step. It doesn’t flake or clump and it is so black. It’s not grayish black or blue-black but it is a true black which can be hard to come by in mascaras.
