Happy 2014 friends! I’ve missed you guys so much, and I hope you had an awesome time over the Holidays with family and friends. But now it’s time to talk lipstick, and more importantly the Pantone color of the year: Radiant Orchid.

If you’re not familiar with the Pantone Color of The Year concept every year in the last two months Pantone decides the “it” color for the upcoming year which can be found in all over fashion and beauty throughout the year. The color of 2013 was an emerald which never really drew my attention that much because I’m not much of a green girl but for 2014…..nothing gets me more excited than a purple anything as some of you may know.

Right before Christmas Sephora released this Sephora & Pantone Universe Radiant Rush Matte Lipstick exclusively to the first 200 VIB Rouge members to purchase and I knew I had to have this in my hands ASAP. Unfortunately I went on vacation before it arrived but I’m just now playing with it and I love it!

Even though the name is Radiant Rush this is a Radiant Orchid Lipstick. It comes in a cute orchid gradient magnetic lipstick tube with Pantone Universe on one side and Sephora on the opposite side.

First off…this has what they call a “matte satin finish” (even though the name says only matte; only reference to matte satin is in the website description) which is odd to be because it has the consistency and look of a pure satin and does not come off matte on me at all. I don’t dislike satins but I do feel like the name is misleading because I was surprised when I first put it on.

I know when I was thinking about ordering this I hesitated because I was unsure how this would look on brown skin but of course I love it! It’s purple, I don’t know what I was thinking at the time haha.
