I’m back with another Holiday 2013 gift idea! Today’s gift will appeal to any makeup lover especially those who adore higher end brands of makeup: the Laura Mercier Artist’s Palette for Eyes. Laura Mercier also released an Artist’s Palette last holiday season but this one is slightly different and just as chic. Laura Mercier products are sold at Saks Fifth Avenue, Sephora, Nieman Marcus, etc.

The outside packaging is embossed with cute little Parisian designs; bridges, a woman walking her poodle, and of course the Laura Mercier logo. I think anyone would be impressed with this packaging because honestly what girl/woman doesn’t love Paris? The actual palette looks like expensive pebbled leather (the dots look like raindrops!) and is one of the most well constructed palettes I’ve come across in a while. There is a magnetic flap that closes the palette in the front and inside are of course the eyeshadows and a large mirror with the Laura Mercier logo embossed in the corner.

This palette contains 12 beautiful eyeshadows of the pink and purple variety with a few essential neutrals. There are six matte shades and six luster shades. Here’s the breakdown of which shades are LE and which are permanent:

  • Sparkling Dew – Limited Edition
  • Guava – Available as a single shadow
  • African Violet – Available as a single shadow
  • Plum Smoke – Available as a single shadow
  • Kir Royal – Available as a single shadow
  • Violet Ink – Limited Edition
  • Vanilla Nuts – Available as a single shadow
  • Primrose – Available as a single shadow
  • Fresco – Available as a single shadow
  • Bamboo – Available as a single shadow
  • Truffle – Available as a single shadow
  • Espresso Bean – Limited Edition
Regular LM eyeshadows are .09oz of product and retail for $23. Each shadow in this palette is .03oz of product each with 12 shadows and retails for $48. So for the price of just over two full size eyeshadows you get to try out 12. These shadows blend like an absolute DREAM and are very pigmented. These are some of the best I’ve come across in my shadow lifetime lol.
This is one of the few palettes I’ve come across that contains mostly shades you can buy full sizes of and I personally think that is AWESOME. There’s nothing worse than falling head over heels in love with a shadow in a limited edition palette you can’t get anymore, and this an amazing way to try out Laura Mercier if you are new to her brand like I was.

The colors may appear slightly washed out in the above picture (see swatches below). Sparkling Dew is a medium-dark cream color with slight shimmer. Guava is slightly pinker in person and is also shimmery. Vanilla Nuts is your classic cream that is perfect for your brow highlight, and Primrose is a light pinkish purple with shimmer.

I am absolutely obsessed with African Violet and I’m SO glad it isn’t a limited edition color. It’s a mid toned purple with gold and purple glitters and it is amazing. Plum Smoke is a greyish purple, Fresco is a light brownish pink, and Bamboo (another fave) is a shimmering gold color.

Kir Royal is your medium shimmer shade with a compliment of Violet ink next to it. I love using African Violet, Kir Royal, and Violet ink for a soft purple smokey eye. Truffle is the perfect transition color and Espresso Bean is great as a liner shade.

If you can’t tell by now I love this palette. This would make an amazing gift for anyone who is eyeshadow obsessed and is not a fan of all the little mini sized items that come in most of the holiday sets.

What do you think of this Laura Mercier palette?
