Welcome to my very first post of Holiday Gift Ideas for the 2013 season! If you read my last post on Tuesday and watched my video you’ll know first up is the The Tarte of Giving Collector’s Set & Travel Bag. This set is great for beginners in makeup and makeup enthusiasts alike. The shadows are gorgeous, the lip glosses add just the right amount of shimmer, and the extras in the set are to amazing. Keep scrolling for swatches and more below!

What drew me into this set is that it comes in a three compartment hanging travel bag which is so much more useful than a single opening makeup bag. And it’s purple which is my favorite color. And it has bows.

Inside the first compartment you get the following:

  • Mini Pure Maracuja Oil
  • Cheek Stain in Flush
  • Lights, Camera, Lashes, Mascara mini
  • Mini Maracuja C-brightener Eye Treatment
  • Amazonian Clay 12hr Blush in Memorable
Basically you have all your prep and face products in the first compartment. The Maracuja Oil is a nightly treatment for you face and neck, and the C-brightener Eye Treatment hydrates and de-puffs your under eye area. I like that they included two options for the cheeks one on the lighter side and a red that when blended can suit most skin tones.

The only downside to this set is that the blush in Memorable is a little too light for my skintone in my opinion. But it is a pretty neutral toned pink blush I think would suit lighter skintones nicely.

Now the cheek stain is something I can definitely work with. It looks shiny in the swatch but it dries to a nice flush (haha) when blended into the cheeks.

The next two compartments contain a 20 eye shadow palette and 8 Maracuja Lip Glosses. These two compartments actually zip together and the first one flips over the top and closes with a hook.

This is my first run in with Tarte eye shadows and holy cow am I impressed. Staying power and pigmentation are all top notch and these shades are so pretty for the holiday season and beyond. Tarte named all of these shadows after favorite childhood items of the staff such as “Meredith’s Hula Hoop”, “Daniel’s Teddy Bear” and “Anna’s Tea Set”. It’s hard to pick a favorite but the stand out shades here are Scott’s Skateboard, Tom’s Stuffed Tiger, Claire’s Cashmere Gloves, and Meredith’s Hula Hoop.

Tarte Maracuja Lip Glosses
Swatches(left pic is top row of glosses): Finn, Lizzy, John, Ro
Swatches: (right pic is bottom row of glosses) Kam, Viv, Sully, Spence

Last but certainly not least we have the 8 Maracuja Lip Glosses. All of these shades are beautiful alone or paired over your favorite lipstick. I think these random names on the bottom of the glosses are their shade names; otherwise they don’t have any haha! I’ll use these names because it’s easier to talk about them and remember which ones you are wearing. In my video where I discuss this set I’m wearing Viv on top of a pink lipstick. I also can’t get enough of Kam. These glosses smell and taste like mint and have a slight plumping effect when applied.

This set retails for $59 and is exclusive to Sephora who claims this set in total is a $490 value. Ulta has their own exclusive mega set that looks pretty amazing as well!

I did the math and the lip glosses alone were ~$96! The blush is 25$ by itself… it’s a total steal! I nabbed one! Very excited! I am hoping to use some of the glosses as stocking stuffers for friends too, double win!
